Angel Inn

The Angel Inn was situated at 137 High Street. This pub was established by the early sixteenth century and closed in 1951.  The premises today form part of ‘Angel Court’, a complex of local council offices.

According to his death certificate, my great, great grandfather Benjamin Farran, plumber and glazier, accidentally fell to his death through a skylight in this pub on the 17th March 1870.

It has now been converted to restaurant use.
