Church Elm

The Church Elm was situated at the corner of Church Elm Lane and Dagenham Heathway. This pub dated back to 1839, closed in 2005 and demolished in 2008. The site is now occupied by housing and offices (see photo below).

A distant relative of mine, one Samuel Twyford (1806- 1857) was the landlord of the Church Elm Pub between 1845 and 1855.

Paul Smith 1964-1971 Got picked up here when I was working for the council, by a bunch of blokes that first got me into scaffolding. Used to get some good groups out back in the hall, Small Faces, Honeycombs and Herman Hermits.
