The
Good Intent was situated on Crown Street.
According to Tony Clifford, in his book Barking Pubs Past And
Present, the Good Intent is listed in the Dagenham voters register of
1866/7, possibly in Crown Street, but he was unable to find any other record
of it. |

The Good Intent was located
adjacent to a stream that crossed Crown Street. The pub was owned by my
great grandparents George and Emily Band. They moved to the Church Elm,
Heathway where Mrs Emily C Band was licencee from 1912-1914. Her only son
was killed aged 18 in WWI and my grandmother and her first husband took
over. My grandmotherwas widowed, remarried George Arnold and left the pub
business. My mother was born in 1920. |
