The White Hart was situated on the High Street. This pub was also known as The Dunmow Inn. It has now been demolished with retail units built on the site.
One day in late 1953 a carload of London villains including the Kray twins waited here in vain for their money after fleecing local resident Geoff Allen in a crooked card game.  - from the book, "Reg Kray, Born Fighter"
