The Half Moon was situated at 15 St Austins Lane. This pub was present by 1895 when the publican was Mary Ann Dowling. It closed in 1973 and is now in residential use.

This pub is now in use as a Thai restaurant.

My grandmother Rose Pirie was the landlady there from 1963 to 1973….in 1973 she had to leave the pub due to my grandfathers ill health. I seem to remember the pub became Half Moon antiques in 1973. An interesting anecdote is that the pub was supposed to be haunted by a ghost that my gran always called ‘George’.
