The Kings Head was situated at 8 Market Street.
This pub closed in 1932 and is now in
residential use. The publican in 1895 was Frederick Chambers. |
|
It was known as the house of the dancing bears – seamen
bringing bears ashore to dance in the pub. After a fire and loss of trade
due to the departure of the Army and Navy, the pub was sold in 1932 and
converted to a general store. |
