Worked here from 1980 to 1986, starting as a barman and ending as head barman/cellarman. Management were Ted and Margaret Sugeon with assistant manager Martin Reeder with wife Tracey and Martin's brother Geoffery.
This was a very lively and busy pub /restaurant at that time even though there was no juke box, only piped music, but still got rammed with young people.
Long before I worked there and before it was redeveloped to become a Berni Inn, and later a Schooner, there was a sub police station attached to the side of it and this later became a flat for the sub manager to use as a base for sleeping or maybe other goings on.
Had some good staff after hours parties there along with staff outings to Baileys night club in Watford where the assistant managers Martin and Tracey were eventually given a Schooner pub to manage in Watford.
