The Tower Arms was situated on Weald Road. This pub is now listed as an asset of community value.

A great pub when George & Ethel owned it. Free house selling Youngs Special, Tartan, and Skol. Age of the locals ranged from late teens (like myself then in 76/77) to old George who lived across the Road and was in his 90’s. My dad decided to take me there on my 18th birthday and was speechless when George the landlord fished out my tankard from under the bar – which was a hatch – and said “usual Simon, and I see you brought your old man along tonight”....most of the furniture came from Warley Barracks after the 1st World War. Played darts and Ring the Bull, later Petanque in part of the garden. I could fill a book with anecdotes about this place. So many happy memories.
