The White Lion was situated at 8 Glouocester Street. This pub closed in 2009
and has now been converted to residential use. |

I used to be a freelance trainer (the rest -
most - of the time, I was a IT contractor, using the tech that I taught) for
QA Training when they were based in Cecily Hill Castle.
It very quickly became clear to me that other freelance trainers favoured
The White Lion over other options as the place to stay. Even though the
bedrooms were small, they were all ensuite, clean and functional. However,
what really made it special was Roy (surname, anyone?) the larger-than-life
landlord, the beer and the lovely local pub atmosphere. There was also a
popular pool table. I'd typically arrive on a Sunday evening (to attend
training training [sic]), but would be 'giving up' on the very nice, but
rich, Full English, by the Wednesday! |
