Severn Bridge & Railway Hotel

My husband, Peter, and I ran the Railway as it was known in 1976 for 6 1/2 years we have many happy tales to tell as the Dockers Club opened in the old Sharpness Hotel and a lot of the trade was taken up by them.  We did keep a lot of the locals but the main part of the trade was from off the docks which coming from the Midlands was all very new to us but how interesting it was. Our two teenage daughters say it was one of the best upbringings you could have.
We went to another pub in Swindon.  Whitbreads put a relief manager in for a few weeks then a couple from Cashes Green took over but they did't last very long. It was then sold to a man from over the Forrest of Dean who did a lot of work on it and it turned into a Nursing Home.  It is now been used as offices for a Water Company.

Pam Curtis   As a little girl I used to be allowed to sit upstairs in Mr and Mrs Goldings sitting room and watch television while my Mum and Dad had a drink, then Mr and Mrs Butler took over, then came the Curtis Family for Five and half years. I met Mike the eldest Son, at 17 and 40 years later and lots of travelling, we are now back in the Shire.
