The Fleur De Lys was situated on Wiremead Lane
and is now used as a private dwelling. |

The Fleur-de-Lys is a thatched cottage in the village of Amport, outside
Andover. I was alerted to this a couple of years ago while on my rounds, by
the then owners, who approached me expecting a parcel. They had wanted to
change the name, but were refused permission by the council, as it had been
a pub 150 years ago |

My father, George Rumbold, his brother, Jack and sister
Margaret were all born at Fleur-de-Lys, Amport. Their father, Francis John
Rumbold bought it for £400 in 1916 and the family lived there until 1948
after which they moved to Anna Valley where father worked at Anna Valley
Motors. |
