The Nightjar
|
|
|
|
The Nightjar was situated at 1-2 Fulham Houses.
This was a modern pub in the revamped Basingstoke town centre of the late
1960s. It was demolished c1987 in a subsequent wave of development. At some
point in its life it was called the Goat and Barge, or stood on the site of
a pub called the Goat & Barge, and this in turn was named after two
demolished pubs, one called the Goat and one called the Barge. |

Replicas of
various nautical artefacts for the interior of The Goat & Barge were created
by local artist Rex Monger and his son Brian. |
