The Toby Jug was situated on Portland
Street. The street lasted a mere 100 years and was demolished in 1973 to
make way for car parking. The pub was situated half way down the street on
the left towards the viaduct, in the above photo. The landlord in 1979 was
Colin Wilton. |

After having a social gathering at the Sacred Heart Church, just across
the road we would end it by having a drink with Fr. Roy Bennet in this
lovely pub. It was a good end to a Sunday evening. |
