The Kittiwake was situated on Sandy Point Road,
South Hayling. |

I was shocked to see it was closed! Our
family used to holiday next door in caravans every year from about 1960 when
I was 4 until I was at least 16. My father was a singer and every night
would be accompanied by the piano and sing in the Kitiwake. Particularly
relevant today because he had had shell shock from the Malaya conflict and
singing helped him through.
As children were not allowed in, we use to sit out side with a drink and
packet of smiths crisps. Our caravans were called Sea spray and Happy days.
They were happy days. |
