Situated on the A33, The Lunways Inn changed its name to the Roman Post in the 1990s before it burnt to the ground.
The site is now owned by an evangelical Christian group which wants to build a church there.  A few months ago I spotted some old Lunways Inn paraphernalia in the yard of a business premises in South Wonston (right by the old 'Lunway' - a drovers' route - but four miles from the original site).  There were two painted chipboard pub signs showing a drover with flock of sheep and the legend, 'Lunways Inn', and a large painted green board with white lettering - 500 YARDS AHEAD - THE LUNWAYS INN - COACHES WELCOME - with a 'knife and fork' logo, all propped up with other stuff, exposed to the elements.  I enquired at the premises about whether I could have any of it - they said they had to phone someone called Benjamin (presumably connected to the current owners of the site) to find out what he wanted to do with it.  I asked a couple more times in the following few weeks, but they seemed non-committal and evasive, and by this time the signs had disappeared, so I just gave up - they seemed a little bit too 'clean-cut', so probably connected to the church and not sympathetic to collectors of pub memorabilia...
