The Dolphin Hotel was situated on the High Street. This coaching inn closed in the early 20th century and was later used as a school. Demolished in 1965, Dolphin Court was built on the site.
In his book 'Rural Rides' of 1830, the 19th century politician and author William Cobbett describes a visit there on 11th November 1825, saying it had 'good stabling'.
