The Friend In Need was situated on Twyford
Avenue. My fathers mum used to run this pub for the owner; he and his
siblings had to leave the pub when their mum died of TB in 1943 when my
father was twelve. |

My Grand father and Grand mother ran tyhis pub in the
60's un til it was eventually demolished for the new road development. I
have many memories of being in the pub. I have the old bell which was
used to call time. It is engraved " Friend in Need" with "PCD" on the
other side |
