Penhale Arms

The Penhale Arms was situated at 101 Fratton Road. This pub closed in 1982 and is now in retail use.

The Penhale Arms was one of my locals in the mid 1960's. Along with my mates played a lot of darts here, in fact my father, myself and some of my friends played in their team. Bert Robinson and his wife where mine hosts during the time that I used the pub. It was a launch pad for Fratton Park on Saturday afternoons. Mr Robinson's mother was the victim of a murder during the war. She was strangled in the pub that she ran, I believe somewhere in Buckland.
