I used this pub frequently in the late sixties
early seventies as the owners were my cousin Audrey and her husband Charlie
Bennett. Great pub for sailors, cider, live music plus the occasional girls
in the night. Had many a great night there. |

I often paid a visit to this pub. The landlord was a Pat Murray from
Galway and his wife Josie. One barman there by the name of Frankie from
Dublin .I cant remember his surname.I hope this rings a bell with
someone. |

Our Wedding day was 22nd of August 1970. Kathleen and I spent our
honeymoon night at The Yorkshire Grey on our way to the Isle of Wight to
see Jimmy Hendrix at the 5 day pop festival the following week. That
Saturday evening, the Japanese Fleet were in town and Portsmouth was
very busy. Sad that the pub (and Jimi Hendrix) are gone.kath annd I are
still here. |
