Road at the junction with Waterhouse Lane, closing in the 1990s.
This pub has now been demolished. |

I remember delivering letters there in 1989/90 and being struck by the
lovely engraved glass advertising Scrase's Stout. Driving around there
about 3-5 years ago I noticed that the entire corner was occupied by a new
development of houses/flats. Tony Gallaher's Southampton's Inns and Taverns
( Poulner Publishing 1995) has this to say: 'Erected in 1925, this pub was
one of the last to be built for Scrase's Star Brewery before Strong's of
Romsey took over...It has been the property of the Whitbread Group since
1969'. |
