The Castle Hotel was situated at 85 High Street. This pub was present by the 1820s when Robert Playford was publican here. It closed in the 1880s and was used as offices until WWII when it was badly damaged during an air raid. The site has been left empty so as to display the town's medieval wine cellars, which were used as part of the pubs cellar.
