The Crown & Sceptre was situated at 30 Bevois Valley Road and is now used as The Dungeon, a music club.

My parents were the tenants of this pub from its opening in 1955/56 until my mother, the then licensee retired in 1981. My father, Ernest Rawlings died in 1959 and my mother, Eve, took over the license and, with the help of my elder brother Jim, continued to run the pub.
