My parents, Tom and Beryl Martin, bought the
pub, I think it was 1966, and I lived there for awhile in 1967/68. It was
free house and my Dad used to order new and different draught beers
depending on customers tastes. This was before CAMRA was formed.
I left the pub in 1968 to pursue a career in the catering business.
My Mother died at the pub in July 1979 and Dad sold up and moved to Spain
shortly afterwards. He passed away in 2004.
I have some very happy memories of the pub, especially during the pheasant
season. |

My grand parents Charles & Nelly Brown ran The
New Inn from 1953 to 1958. I remember spending weekends there when my
parents Brenda & George Brown helped in the bar. I remember it being packed
out and lots of laughter and a good sing song around the piano George used
to play ( I really miss that).
Nelly died in 1957, so Charles retired in 1958 and moved in with George &
Brenda, he died in 1961. George died in 1988 and Brenda in 1992.
I also met my husband at The New Inn, in 1968. |
