The Coach & Horses was situated on South Street.

Rod Stewart played a concert at the old stable building at rear of the pub. The venue as called The Stable D’or and he appeared with Southampton band The Soul Agents on 3rd April 1965.

Will Jones	c2005	I think I was here then as a visitor. The lounge bar was very plush with a great variety of good local and maritime curios displayed and on the walls. There was also a great blues and rock jam night held in the upstairs rear assembly room on the night I was there.
