The pub might be demolished to
make way for a new home. It has been closed since 2017 and has been vacant
ever since. It is in a poor state of repair and has been the subject of
vandalism and break-ins in recent years. |

The pub was demolished late
2023/early 2024. Prior to this, in one of the newspaper articles discussing
its possible demolition, the following comment was attributed to "Sir Arthur
Onslaught" - "Alas! If it's history you want then the Cross Keys doesn't
have a very good one. Many years ago the entire front wall collapsed - I
remember one of the builders told me that when they arrived they were
greeted with the sight of the beds in the upstairs rooms complete with the
chamber-pots thereunder!" |
