The Chequers & Globe is now used as a bed & breakfast establishment called 'Ye Olde Globe & Chequers'.

My father, Leonard Fletcher, was born in the pub in 1933. His mother, Nellie Huffords’ family kept the pub. The Hufford family also kept bee hives in disused beer barrels. My father recalled how they placed the honeycomb in muslin strung between two chairs, in front of the openfire, melting the wax & the honey dripping into the buckets underneath.
My father was a beekeeper throughout his life & 2 of his children are too.
