The Anchor was situated on Holywell
Front. This grade-II listed pub is
now in residential use. |

building details: |
C16 cottage. Original 2 unit plan,
with C17 extension. One-storey and attic. Rendered timber-frame and
colour-washed brick. Thatched roof. End stack to left hand and ridge stack
with projecting panels of local brick. Brick parapet gable to right hand.
Four dormer windows with leaded light casements. Four horizontal sliding
sash windows with glazing bars at ground-floor and door with four flush
panels. Attached timber-framed and weather-boarded barn with pantile roof
and brick foundations to left hand. Interior has an inserted C17 brick stack
with two inglenook hearths, and one with a later inserted baking oven.
Inserted hall floor with fine moulded ceiling beam. |
