The Black Horse was situated on Huntingdon Road.
Late 16th century timber-framed house, refaced in brick and extended in the 19th century. Thought to be a later extension to the 15th/16th century The Old George that stands on The Green. A heritage statement dates the core of the property to between 1480 and 1580 and states it was split from the merchant’s house about 1600. Black Horse Cottage was extended about 1650 and bricked and tiled in 1842. It was converted to the Black Horse pub at one stage and later became a tailor's shop. It was extended again in around 1880 and a bay added about 1905. During WW2 it was also a billet for the Pathfinder Force from RAF Wyton. It was re-roofed in 1973. It was sold in 1987 in a run down state and then restored with the kitchen and out buildings altered in 1989/90. In 2017 planning approved an extension over the kitchen and utility but I'm not sure that was implemented as it was sold again in Jan. 2019. I had a search of my directories and whilst there are a number of beer retailers I couldn't find a Black Horse pub. Directories didn't normally list beerhouses by name and it could have existed before my earliest directory anyway.
