The Lord Nelson was situated at 11 Nelson Place. This was very much a local’s pub and I particularly remember it for the numerous Broadstairs Folk Weeks I played there. This was for many years the home of the daily playaround sessions run by Paul Lucas and they were great fun. It also used to host the “Wired” music sessions which continue elsewhere in the town. Greene King decided to sell it in, if memory serves, 2015 and it was bought by a South African property developer who has undertaken several other projects locally. The plan was to turn it into flats but it is in a conservation area and there have been all sorts of applications and appeals over whether this is going to be allowed to go ahead.
