Chequers was situated on Church Lane.
This grade-II listed
pub was originally a farmhouse and became a pub and posting house in the
18th century. The pub closed in 2016 and was converted for residential use. |

Alehouse. Mid C19, C18 to rear.
Chanelled render and plain tile roof. 2 storeys, hipped roof with 2 stacks
to left and rear right. Regular fenestration on first floor 2 tripartite
sashes with a 2 light sash between, on ground floor 2 segmental bays with
moulded cornices, 2 central doors. C19 to left with flat hood, C20 to right.
Rear elevation has tile hanging and is C18 timber frame. |
