The New Mogul Inn was situated at 5-6
Chapel Place. This pub opened in 1858 and closed in 1986 following a fire.
The pub was rebuilt, and re-opened the following year as The Mogul, only to
close finally in 2007. |

who remembers anything. |

Very fond memories of this remarkable pub and its
landlady, Nellie Willson, who was funny and smart and very tolerant. The
beer was superb, pulled straight from the barrels. I remember the large
pairs of Victorian bloomers hanging above the bar. We spent several New
Years' Eves in the pub, and in 1982 I got down on one knee and proposed
to the woman who is still my wife beneath the dartboard in the back
room! |
