Alice Goodman 1959 to closure Customer. We used to live in the flats alongside the Mogul, celebrated my 18 there in 1968,was in there almost every night in the back room , Nellie let me and my husband have the weekend there when we got married in 1969.
Sean Lusk 1970s/1980s Very fond memories of this remarkable pub and its landlady, Nellie Willson, who was funny and smart and very tolerant. The beer was superb, pulled straight from the barrels. I remember the large pairs of Victorian bloomers hanging above the bar. We spent several New Years' Eves in the pub, and in 1982 I got down on one knee and proposed to the woman who is still my wife beneath the dartboard in the back room!
