The Prince Albert was situated on
Rendezvous Street and is now in residential use. |
|
I lived here as a child in the
early 1950s , my parents Nelson and Olive Williams ran the the pub and also
the commercial hotel too until about 1958. I remember a resident Mr Fleming
and whist drives in the bar in the afternoon. The yard at the rear had a
tailors workshop above the garage/ storeroom. My mother cooked for the
dining room and also ran the bars, the toilets were in the yard behind the
gates, we had a boxer dog Butch who challenged anyone out of hours ! Almost
next door was the cinema, I remember seeing Alice in Wonderland there and a
church too and going on a Sunday school outing from there. |
