The Popes Head was situated at 95 West Street. This pub was present from 1758 to 1939 and was known from 1633 and 1754 as The Four Trumpeters. It was tied to the Meux’s Brewery of London and is now in residential use.

Apparently one of the Jack the ripper suspects, Mr William Henry pigott, was arrested there on the evening of Sunday 8th September 1888 because he had blood on his clothes. Later found out he had blood on his clothes because he had helped a woman having a foot who had then bitten his hand. This is from the book 'the ultimate compendium of the legacy and legend of histories most notorious killer, jack the ripper' by otto Penzler.
