The Woodmans Arms is now used as a private house. At one time occupied by the actor Gerald Campion.

"The landlord had been told, when he first came to the pub, by a retired publican friend that, “The secret of keeping ale and beer was to order it in advance so that it can lay for two weeks before you tap it.”
From Kent Pubs by D E Tubbs (Batsford 1966).

Derek Risebrow 1963-1968 Bob and Nora were the tenants. Bob was also a postman. Nora kept chickens. The front room was the bar with a round table in the centre overhung by a tassled lampshade. The beer was kept in the cellar below and was hand poured direct from the barrel. Fremlins ordinary bitter or very strong sweet County Ale a perfect temperature all year. I lived 50 metres away in Stone Cottage. That was the sixties. Great weekend parties.
