My grandad Charlie Jordan who would be over 100 years old if he were still alive used to live in the same road as the rising sun pub in st Mary Cray . He told me how as a young boy he had to be in the pub before the men finished work to put pokers in the fire to heat up,the reason he had to do this was because the men would put the hot poker's in their beer to warm it up in winter ,he said also his mum would send him down to the pub to tell his nan to go home for dinner as she could always be found there having a beer.
