Keith Bostel 1964-1968 This old Kent pub used to be on our rounds when we wanted a change from our usual local which was the Ship at Southfleet. A mad drive through the Kent lanes in our Minis & Hillman Imps took us to Plaxtol where we supped the speciality rough cider. It was opaque, had a kick like a mule and lived up to its name until around one o'clock the next day. No one ever remembered driving home.
Ed Segall 1972-1977 My then girlfriend and I discovered this pub when touring around Sevenoaks. They served salmon fish cakes and chips in a basket. Absolutely delicious! Some years later my wife and I were in the area and I drove her to Plaxtol to see if they still served the same dish, which luckily they did, and which we both enjoyed very much.
Alun Pedler 1967-1969 Agree with Keith. This pub name meant 'Happy Corner' in Gaelic and translations in every language were displayed above the bar. Coupled with the 'Golding Hop' which brewed cider as well. 1s 3d a pint rough and 1s 6d for smooth. Could get drunk for under 5s and the Mini would find it's own way home to Medway!
