Three Tuns

The Three Tuns was situated on The Street. This pub was known as The Tuns at Staple House at the time of its closure in March 2014. Planning application to convert it to residential was granted in April 2017. The grade-II listed building was built in 1712, originally as a farmhouse, becoming a beer house in 1755 and adopting the Three Tuns name in 1767.

 
Listed building details:
Public House. C17 and late C18. Red brick and plain tiled roof. Two parallel ranges. Two storeys and attic with hipped roof, 1 hipped dormer and stack to end right. Three glazing bar sashes on first floor and 2 wooden casements on ground floor with central projecting C20 porch, with globular traceried window and half-glazed doors in left and right sides. Rear wing, C17, with large offset stack on plinth with string courses, and hipped dormer facing into roof valley. Left return, with 3 hipped dormers, 3 glazing bar sashes on each floor and outshot at end left.
