The Ivy House was situated at 199 High Street.
This grade-II listed pub closed in 2008.
Previously known as The Elephant & Castle. |
|
This pub reopened in 2009.
The fascinating thing about this was the pub sign; although the pub was
known as the Ivy House, the sign was clearly for "The Elephant and Castle".
Unfortunately it now has a crude sign just with the outline of a piece of
Ivy. It seems that not only are pubs lost, but also many of the superb
signs, many of which had a great story behind them |
