The Penny Pot was situated on Penny Pot Lane. This pub which dates back to the 18th century is now in residential use.

It must have been in the 1960s when a friend and I, before dark and not realising that the pub had closed, went in through the front door. No person appeared but we were in what seemed to be a comfortable lounge with no sign of a bar. We realised it must have closed and departed, thirsty, without the houseowners ever appearing!
