The Blockade Inn was situated at 23 King Street. This pub was present by 1891 when the publican was Thomas Sharples. It closed in 2008 due to lack of trade.

Kathleen Parish 1951/1953 My dad (John Edward Parish) was the Landlord and he and Mum ran it as a Bed & Breakfast hotel. My sister was actually born in the pub. My Dad got a TV for the Coronation and all the kids from the neighbourhood sat round to watch. There are other memories of happy days
