The Castle Hotel was situated on Market Street.

In the early 1970s this pub was reputed to be part of the just emerging gay scene. I used to pay my AEU union fees every week there. It later became part of the Dirty Duck, before being purchased by Margaret Grimshaw for redevelopment.
