I recall reading that in 1891 the landlord
bought a stolen gas meter from someone he knew and installed it himself.
The installation was badly done resulting in a gas leak and this in turn
led to an explosion and fire with a number of people being injured and
if I remember rightly the loss of one life , John Casey. |
