The Fox & Grapes was situated on Preston New
Road. |

Another public house that had fallen victim to population
changes in its area & was sold by private sale in early 2009.
Evidence of its former owners can be seen in the silhouette of a Thwaites'
gable end sign by the side corner!

This was my father's local until we moved down
south in 1963. As I remember it there was a Prest bakery behind it. I don't
think there was a child's play area at the pub. My brother and I were only
14/15 and we lived round the corner on Lancaster place. |
