Highfield Inn

The Highfield Inn was situated at 37 Grimshaw Park.

Time goes fast. At the end of the sixties my good friend Henk Nieuwenhuizen married Eileen O'Hare from Oswaldtwistle. He left Holland and they found a new home in Frederick Street Blackburn. They lived there for several years and I often visited them over there. Often we were visitors in the Highfield Inn. (close to Mosley Street) At that time it was a wonderful pub with a warm atmosphere. There was a pianola and in the weekend it was crowded with now and then good singsongs. On Saturday nights Henk and the neighbours often took a jerrycan with them. At the end of the evening they were filled up by the landlord and taken home. Yes indeed: sweet memories of a wonderful time. The Highfield Inn was surely a nice place to be.
