The Oak Tree on Livesey Branch Road was originally The
Beechwood. The Beechwood was originally a private house, built by George
Whiteley, who inherited Albion Cotton Mill from his father George Whiteley
of The Woodlands on Preston Old Road. George Jnr's wife Alice was Alice
Tattersall, daughter of William Tattertersall who inherited Dutton's
Brewery. This pub is now used as a Tesco Store.
