I lived next to this pub from 1958
to 1972. My mum and dad were regulars and I enjoyed being fed crisps and
pop from regulars while I sat watching tv next door. |

I lived at 3 Salisbury street which the pub
was partly on. I remember the pub landlord Johnny Downham who had to
daughters. I also was friends with two brothers whose parents briefly
had the pub and spent many hours playing in the pub whilst it was closed
to customers. Our next door neighbour, Ted Smith who was also our
landlord use to walk up to the pub every Saturday tea time with a pint
sized jug and would have filled with bitter to take home. |
