The Three Pigeons was situated
on Oakenhurst Road. |

My grandparents ran this pub from around 1968 to 1977 or so (Henry and
Alison Smellie). At that time, smoking was allowed and pub was very busy.
People were 3 and 4 deep at the bar on a Saturday night. There were live
turns in the lounge on Saturday, regular bingo and the vault had a ¾ size
snooker table, dart board and table football. When they retired the pub went
very trendy – lots of glass and plastic decorations. The pub dog in those
days was Bruce - a big tan and white boxer. |

My grandparents ran this pub and I spent a lot of happy hours there. I
was 6-14 years old. Would love to hear from anyone who worked at or
patronized this pub during that time. |
