Three Pigeons

The Three Pigeons was situated on Oakenhurst Road.

My grandparents ran this pub from around 1968 to 1977 or so (Henry and Alison Smellie). At that time, smoking was allowed and pub was very busy. People were 3 and 4 deep at the bar on a Saturday night. There were live turns in the lounge on Saturday, regular bingo and the vault had a  ¾ size snooker table, dart board and table football. When they retired the pub went very trendy – lots of glass and plastic decorations. The pub dog in those days was Bruce - a big tan and white boxer.
