The Wellington Inn was situated at 71 King Street.

The above picture shows Thwaites' Wellington Inn on the corner of Byrom Street and King Street, looking towards Bank Top. 1960s.  The Star on the sign reflects the fact that Thwaites' brewery is known as Star Brewery or vice-versa depending on which way you look at it. Depopulation of the surrounding area plus the opening of the Elma Yerburgh & Three Pigeons will have accounted for its closure.
