The Who Could A Thow't It' was situated a at 82 Grimshaw Park
on its corner with York Street, closed in 1979 and demolished shortly after.
The pub was a cobblers shop before it became a pub. One day, somebody from
one of the six breweries in Blackburn at the time came in and said to the
cobbler that the brewery wanted to buy the shop and turn it into a pub. A
man who was sitting at the counter chatting to the cobbler is reputed to
have said, "Well who could a thow't it" hence the name of the pub!
