Just a short walk from Blackpool North station,
the Wheatsheaf was a quite amazing pub. Excellent real ale and cheap, but
satisfying, food didn't tell the full story of this unique pub. It was like
stepping
back in time. The interior walls were covered with music memorabilia from
the 1960s and the pub contained a patriotic statue figure of a man and woman
who would wave Union Jack flags when fed with the appropriate coins. The pub
closed in 2004 and later fell victim to fire. The pub received many
affectionate tributes on web sites dedicated to real ale and Blackpool
social life. |
